Gerry Sutcliffe MP Minister for Sport Visits Buckmore Park

Following the Let’s Go Karting launch at Buckmore Park on Monday 23 June, Gerry Sutcliffe MP, Minister for Sport, paid Buckmore Park a visit on Wednesday 25 June.

John Surtees stressed the need for there to be an even playing field relative to support that comes from government sponsored bodies for sport, and that motorsport should be included in those support and training programmes.  There are numerous benefits in that training and teaching both on and off the track may not only produce another Michael Schumacher or Lewis Hamilton but also could be a valuable feeder for the British motorsport industry which has a value of something in the region of £6 billion per annum to this country.

He was there to meet with John Surtees and Bill Sisley and also to see some of the programmes that have been introduced at the circuit.  Gerry Sutcliffe witnesses both the classroom and track activities of Playing for Success and Mid-Kent College.
