CLIENTS AND PAST PROJECTS
To quote Classic & Sports Car, John Surtees "remains one of the truly great talents: a natural wheelman with that rarest of all attributes, an instinctive affinity with whatever machinery he is riding or driving".
His passion for motorcycles and things mechanical was fostered by his father, Jack, a highly successful sidecar racer. That early education was followed by an apprenticeship at Vincent-HRD and supplemented by extra-curricular racing activities on home-built Vincents and later Nortons.
It served him well. Win followed win and his proven ability as a race winner, coupled with his aptitude to engineer race-winners, eventually caught the eye of the celebrated MV Agusta team. Seven World Championships followed.
His switch to cars in 1960 revealed his coveted racecraft and engineering skills were totally interchangeable. Within four years he had clinched the F1 driver's and constructor's championships with Ferrari. The Can-Am Championship for sportscars in the Lola T70 he helped develop followed two years later .
Along the way he proved his mechanical understanding and ability to turn around mid-grid teams and machines were second to none...and still are. As a race winner and engineer on two and four wheels, his skills remain unparalleled.
For John, racing and engineering are a way of life...which is why, even in his 70s, his unique blend of bike and car racecraft, coupled with that "instinctive affinity" with fine machinery, are still very much in demand.
