In some ways it was a bittersweet weekend for the British Racing Drivers’ Club. On the one hand, despite the weather, they were safeguarded because of the event having been a sell out and Lewis Hamilton excelled in what were atrocious conditions. But on the other, the Board of Directors and management they had elected had to swallow hard with the announcement that they had lost the Grand Prix from 2010.

John Surtees is one of the sporting giants included in the Queen's Birthday Honours list published on Saturday 14 June 2008. John – who was already awarded an MBE in 1959 – receives an OBE for services to motorsport and charity.

Formula One stars launch new nationwide go karting initiative
Stars from the world of Formula One and motor sport were at Buckmore Park on Monday 23rd June to give the green light to the Motor Sports Association’s (MSA) Let’s Go Karting campaign, which will enable children to experience the thrill of Karting for just £5.
